Step 1 Create a slip stitch around your crocheting needle.

Step 2 Chain 4-5 loops

Step 3 Point needle into the first loop and single stitch twice in that loop.

Step 4 Point needle into second loop and single stitch twice in that loop.

Step 5 Continue to single stitch twice into each loop, you’ll see you’re going in a spiral TO THE LEFT. The point in doing this is to expand the base of the beanie without curling it just yet.

Step 6 When you have reached your desired diameter begin to single stitch only once into each loop, this will start to curl the hat’s edges downward, in your case the opening will be coming out towards you.

Step 7 When you’ve reached the end of your hat chain 1, pull and tie a bunch of knots, then cut off the extra yarn.
